LEVANTE is a kitesurf session off Tarifa on the Strait of Gibraltar. A white Andalusian town, wind turbines on the hill, the lighthouse on Isla de las Palomas and the mountains of Africa scroll past. The Levante sits around 22 knots, swings roughly between 13 and 31, and a gust notice pops up above 27.
The game is built around one idea: reading the wind window. A dial at the top of the screen shows your kite on an arc from 9 to 3 o'clock. Parked at 12 (the zenith) the kite has almost no pull; dipped to about 45 degrees it hits the power zone and drags you forward. Moving the kite back and forth adds extra pull, just like sine-ing a real kite.
How to play
- On the start screen, add a nickname (up to 8 characters) if you like, pick one of seven kites, then tap the Free Ride card for a 2-minute session. The Kite School card opens a lesson list instead.
- Steer the kite down toward the power zone and pull the bar in. Board speed is shown in knots top left, with BAR IN when you are powered.
- Above about 9 knots, send the kite toward 12 o'clock to jump. If you pull hard and lift the kite toward the zenith at speed, the game sends it for you.
- In the air, rotate, roll or grab, then bring the kite back into the power zone before touching down.
- At 0:00 the Session Log shows top speed, best air time, distance, time in the power zone, and each trick with its points.
Controls
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Steer the kite | Touch: left half of the screen is your left hand, right half is your right hand; hold one higher than the other to tilt the bar. Keys: Left/Right arrows or A/D |
| Power up (sheet in) | Touch: push both hands up the screen together. Keys: Space or Up arrow; Down arrow to ease off |
| Jump (SEND) | Touch: double-tap quickly. Keys: S |
| Back roll / front roll | In the air, hold both hands low (back roll) or high (front roll) |
| Spin | In the air, steer left or right |
| Grab | In the air, keep a finger pressed for about 0.4 seconds |
| Board edge (optional) | Tap the gyro button on the start screen, then tilt the phone |
| Start | Tap Free Ride, or press Enter |
Rules
- Each free ride lasts exactly 2 minutes.
- A jump needs speed: below roughly 9 knots the kite just goes up and you see 'Not enough speed'.
- To land cleanly your board must come back close to level and the kite must be in the power zone. Otherwise you crash, lose about two thirds of your speed and your combo resets.
- Tricks score points: back roll 180, front roll 200, spin 160, kite loop 160, grab 90. Landing another trick within 6 seconds builds a combo multiplier up to x5.
- A kite loop triggers when you push the kite to the edge of the window with the bar pulled in while airborne; it gives extra lift and speed.
- Solo sessions share the water with 3 computer riders. In an online room the computer riders are removed and only people ride.
Tips
- Keep the dot on the dial swinging around the shaded 45-degree zones instead of parking it at 12.
- Jump when the SEND hint appears: speed, bar and kite position are all right.
- Level out and steer the kite down before landing to keep most of your speed.
- Turning on the gyro can add up to about a third more jump height.
FAQ
How long is a session?
Two minutes, counted down in the top right corner.
Why does my jump fail?
You need more than about 9 knots and the kite away from straight overhead. Build speed in the power zone first.
What is in the Kite School?
A list of 46 real kitesurf skills in 6 levels (Beginner, Hooked, Unhooked, Strapless, Foil, Wave), each with a short description and a 1 to 5 star difficulty. Progress is not saved.
Can I ride with friends?
Yes. In the + menu, the play icon opens a room with a 4-character code and the invite button shows a link to copy. Friends who open it ride their own kites in your session, with chat and emoji reactions.
Do I need to install anything or sign in?
No. It runs in the browser on phone or computer, in English, Korean, Chinese and Vietnamese.
