Today 2026-10-09: 丙辰 day, Cold Dew
Day 丙辰 (Bing-Chen), month 戊戌, year 丙午. Solar term: Cold Dew 寒露, with Frost Descent in 15 days. Lunar date: month 8, day 29.
Today's pillars
The day pillar comes from the unbroken sixty-day count; the month pillar changes at the jie solar terms and the year pillar at the Start of Spring. The table is worked out by the same engine that the Destiny Day app uses.
| Pillar | Reading | Stem element | Branch element | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Day | 丙辰 | Bing-Chen | Fire | Earth |
| Month | 戊戌 | Wu-Xu | Earth | Earth |
| Year | 丙午 | Bing-Wu | Fire | Fire |
The five elements today
Destiny Day weighs the day pillar 3, the month 1.5 and the year 0.5, and counts the hidden stems of each branch by their share of the month. Today Earth weighs the most and Water the least.
| Element | Weight | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Wood 木 | 0.9 | 9% |
| Fire 火 | 4 | 40% |
| Earth 土 | 4.35 | 43.5% |
| Metal 金 | 0.45 | 4.5% |
| Water 水 | 0.3 | 3% |
Trigram of the day: ☶ 艮 Gen (Mountain)
The strongest element picks the trigram (for Wood, Metal and Earth the day stem being yang or yin chooses between two). The tradition offers it as a thought for the day: Energy that knows when to stop. Today, tidy up and rest rather than start something new.
One line for each day master
The same day meets each person differently, because it is read against their own day stem (day master). Find the stem of your own day pillar in the first column.
| Day master | Today is | Line |
|---|---|---|
| 甲 Jia | 食神 Eating God | The energy you give birth to. Words, ideas and the pleasure of food flow easily. |
| 乙 Yi | 傷官 Hurting Officer | Talent bursting out. Expression shines, though words can run ahead of you. |
| 丙 Bing | 比肩 Companion | An energy like your own. The tradition reads it as a day to stand shoulder to shoulder with friends and colleagues. |
| 丁 Ding | 劫財 Rob Wealth | A similar energy that also competes. Sharing and competition tend to arrive together. |
| 戊 Wu | 偏印 Indirect Resource | Thought runs deep. Good for thinking on your own and for learning. |
| 己 Ji | 正印 Direct Resource | Energy that supports you. Help and learning come in. |
| 庚 Geng | 偏官 Seven Killings | Energy that presses on you. Tasks pile up, and holding steady builds strength. |
| 辛 Xin | 正官 Direct Officer | Energy that shapes you. Responsibility, rules and promises come to the front. |
| 壬 Ren | 偏財 Indirect Wealth | Money and people on the move. The range of activity widens. |
| 癸 Gui | 正財 Direct Wealth | Energy that gathers step by step. Good for careful tidying and household matters. |
Seasonal living today
- Today leans towards Earth. The tradition balances with the element that is lightest today, Water (black, a little salty): miyeok seaweed, kelp, black beans, black sesame, gim (laver), tofu.
- A quiet moment: 21:00-23:00, go to bed early.
- Moving: swimming or a walk by the water or slow stretching.
- Season: Cold Dew - see the solar term guide for foods and habits of this time of year.
